World Authors Day

November 1st is Authors’ Day. In 1928, and the Illinois Women’s Club was meeting to enjoy the writings of some of their favorite authors, when Nellie Verne Burt McPherson suggested the idea of having a day dedicated to Authors and brought it up amongst her fellow club members. This is that day!
Did you know, that according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Agatha Christie is the world’s bestselling author. Her books translated in over 44 languages and sold well. Ireland is home to some of the greatest authors including James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Edna O’Brien and Flann O’Brien(Brian Nolan).
If you want to write a book, maybe these tips can help you..
- Set a firm writing schedule
- Establish a deadline
- Write down ideas in a notebook
- Take a folder and put your information from your research and ideas into it.
- Assemble your writing tools e.g. a pencil, highlighters, a correction roller, an eraser, post-it and a notebook
- Find a mentor
- Establish a writing place
- If writing with your laptop be sure to save your work on a memory stick.
